Our story
Neelmani is the Sanskrit word for blue sapphire, a stone worn for steadiness and worth, never for show. We took our name from it, because a good blouse works the same way. Quiet, precise, and holding everything together.

LITC — Lipstick in the City — grew as a community of women who dress for themselves. Anu Mishra spent those same years at the cutting table, working with weavers and printers across India.
Neelmanie is where they meet. The city's eye and the atelier's hand. Every piece is designed once and made many times, one order at a time.
The craft
ii.
Drawn and dyed by hand in the Andhra–Telangana tradition, with a kalam — the pen the craft is named for. A motif can take days; it wears like a story told slowly.

Jaipur, Bagru, Sanganer — carved wooden blocks pressed by hand into natural dye, repeat by repeat. The small misalignments are the signature; no two metres match.
iv.
Gold and silver zari woven into the cloth itself — not printed on it. Born for silk sarees; it carries the weight of a festive evening without asking for effort.
Why we work this way
A blouse made to your order cannot go back on a shelf — there is no shelf. That is a hygiene promise to you, and a respect promise to the hands that made it. It is also why nothing here is ever discounted to clear stock.
the making
10–15 working days per order — cutting, stitching, finishing by hand. Then 2–5 days shipping in India, 7–14 international, tracked from dispatch.
the fit
Sizes 34–48, each with a 4-inch alteration margin built in. If the fit needs a nudge, any local tailor can make it yours — by design.
the promise
All sales are final — no returns or exchanges, including refused or undelivered parcels. We state it plainly at every step before you pay.
